About
My name is Larissa Liu, I'm a freelance UX designer based in Seattle, WA passionate about creating engaging, impactful interface experiences.
Growing up, my favorite class in school was always science. I was fascinated by the nuances of how things around me worked and as a hands-on learner, I was constantly getting in trouble for conducting my own science experiments at home. The only way to get me to sit still was putting art supplies in front of me. I loved everything creative; painting, origami, pottery, making music, and so forth.
Fast forward to college. My love for science led me to attempt pursuing a medical career. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in biology and worked numerous healthcare-related odd jobs. As a research assistant, I spent countless hours in the basement of the Fred Hutch Cancer Laboratory, drawing insight from large pools of data and getting to know the undertakings of iterative testing. Although I loved the scientific and problem-solving aspects of these endeavors, I spent all my free time innervating my creative side. I started my own photography business on the side and hosted weekly paint nights with my friends.
Although I always appreciated the arts and sciences individually, it was my ultimate dream to find the intersection of these passions. After many months of soul searching, I finally found my niche in UX design - a space that embraces both empirical and innovative knowledge.
After graduating from Thinkful’s UX/UI Immersive Bootcamp, I started working as a Junior UX Designer at Foundation Studio where I have been conducting user research and designing responsive interfaces for a variety of different clients. Working in these agile environments is not only teaching me how to utilize user-centered principles to solve complex business problems, but is also pushing me to grow as both a designer and researcher.
When I'm not designing, you can find me bartending, making some sort of art, or camping somewhere off the grid.
Thanks for getting to know me! Feel free to reach out :)
